Ethan Happ burst on to the scene last season as one of the best pure post big men in the country. That reputation and some of the work he showcased on Wisconsin’s trip to New Zealand and Australia have him near the top of the individual heap in the Big Ten this season.
As the Big Ten’s basketball media day unfolds in New York City, the league released its preseason All-Big Ten team. Happ was one of three unanimous picks on the All-Big Ten team.
The junior averaged 14 points, 9 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.8 steals per game last season. He also shot 58.6 percent from the field and had 1.2 blocks per game.
Joining him as unanimous picks were Miles Bridges of Michigan State and Bryant McIntosh of Northwestern. Bridges battled Happ for the preseason Player of the Year honors and won.
No other Wisconsin Badger earned preseason honors, and with four starters to replace that should have been expected. We’ll see if it stays that way by the end of the year though, with UW’s best overall class in over a decade coming on board.
