As if the University of Wisconsin needed more help at an already stacked position, it got just that as former Alabama linebacker Christian Bell committed to the Badgers on Thursday per his Twitter account.

Bell isn’t your typical transfer though and is well-known to the Badgers coaching staff. UW had recruited him during the 2015 recruiting cycle. He was a 3-star recruit at the time and chose a grey shirt offer from the Crimson Tide over other full scholarship offers from around the country.
He also is well-known to at least one member of the Wisconsin locker room — redshirt freshman running back Bradrick Shaw. The two were teammates at Hoover High School in Alabama.
According to reports, Bell will come to Wisconsin as an outside linebacker to start with and will join running back transfer Chris James in sitting out this upcoming season before being allowed to play in 2017.
With Vince Biegel set to graduate and a whole lot of inexperience behind him on the outside linebacker depth chart this could be a welcome addition to the team and a helpful situation after missing out on the No. 1 linebacker target in the 2017 class — James Houston.
