Illinois Fighting Illini
Player: Jamal Milan, DT
Illinois likes to say they are the “State of Chicago” and battling in the city and its massive suburb base is key to finding a way out of mediocrity. Milan is a product of Chicago proper (attending Raby High School) and when you add in the fact that he is a defensive player, you have a huge recruit for the Illini.
There’s little secret that Illinois defense has been a mess since head coach Tim Beckman came aboard, so getting quality players at any and all positions is important. Milan could be a nice piece to the puzzle for Beckman, who is the No. 42-ranked defensive tackle in the 2015 class.
However, Milan isn’t committed to the Illini just yet and that’s because fellow Big Ten West team Minnesota is a huge player in his recruitment. Milan recently took a visit to Dinkytown and came away impressed according to a report from Gopher247 ($). He’ll also visit Illinois in the near future before making a decision.
Between needing to keep the best talent in the state of Illinois and the need for quality defensive players all over the board, getting Milan on board come national signing day is imperative.
