Every Big Ten West team’s biggest recruiting battle before national signing day

Northwestern Wildcats

Courtesy: 247Sports

Player: John Petrishen

Battling: Penn State, Maryland, Pitt, Virginia

Normally the Wildcats aren’t involved in too many late battles but this definitely one that will come down to the wire. Petrishen was a big lean to the hometown Pittsburgh Panthers, but that changed with the coaching change and things are a bit more wide open. He still took a visit to Pitt under Pat Narduzzi, but has not committed to any school as of yet.

Since that change he has set up visits to Penn State, Maryland and may end up visiting Northwestern and Virginia as well. If the Wildcats want to take Petrishen after getting another safety to commit this past week then a visit is a necessity because of the requirements of the coaching staff.

He’s a very intriguing talent, being clocked at a 4.48 40-yard dash time and while it appears the Wildcats have some work to do in this recruitment, getting that kind of speed in the secondary would be a game-changer for Northwestern.
