Battling: Notre Dame, West Virginia and others
If there is a bigger recruiting battle left in the Big Ten West than the one Purdue is in for Vaughn then there is something I’m missing. Not only is Vaughn a 4-star running back, but he is a premier player at a position of extreme need for the Boilermakers.
Losing both Akeem Hunt and Raheem Mostert after the 2014 season is going to be a killer. Adding the No. 26-ranked running back according to the 247Sports composite rankings would certainly be a major upgrade. The good news is that despite the other big time offers, Purdue is well in the mix this late in the recruiting game.
Not only is early playing time helping, but so is the relationship Vaughn has with the coaching staff. There aren’t a lot of clues of exactly what Vaughn will do, but it is clear he’ll land at one of Notre Dame, Purdue, Vanderbilt or West Virginia at this point.
