Wisconsin Clinches West Division Title as Iowa Downs Nebraska

The 2016 Big Ten West Division champions? Your Wisconsin Badgers.

And Just think, it didn’t even take the Badgers getting on the field to make it happen.

It is all thanks to a 40-10 victory by the Iowa Hawkeyes over the Nebraska Cornhuskers. With that loss it doesn’t matter what happens as the Badgers and Gophers battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe.

A loss would make it a four-way tie for the West division and at 2-1 against the other three contenders, it would come down to the Badgers and Hawkeyes.

We all know who won that game this year, thus the clinching of the West division title.

It happened in emphatic fashion too, as Iowa cranked up a missing running game to the tune of 264 yards and three touchdowns. Quarterback C.J. Beathard threw for just 144 yards, but also completed three touchdown passes.

Congrats on the win Iowa, and most importantly, the Wisconsin Badgers thank you for the West division crown you just clinched them.

Of course, head coach Paul Chryst isn’t going to let his team let up on Saturday against the Gophers of Minnesota. After all, there’s a 12-game win streak against their rivals to continue and this thing called a College Football Playoff berth to consider with a pair of wins in the next two weeks.

But for a few hours, the Badgers are likely to soak in a division title and then move on to crushing the Gophers per usual these days.
